The Mid-Atlantic – Eurasia Business Council warmly invites you to a series of events honoring the life and extraordinary achievements of Swiss diplomat Carl Lutz—an often overlooked hero whose humanitarian efforts led to the largest civilian rescue of Jews during the Holocaust.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Lutz’s arrival in Hungary, where, as Vice-Consul of the Swiss Embassy in Budapest, he helped save more than 60,000 lives. The commemoration takes place in Philadelphia, the city where Lutz served as Chancellor at the Swiss Consulate from 1926 to 1934.
Beginning December 2, the exhibition Visas for Life: The Righteous and Honorable Diplomats will open at the Arch Street Meeting House, highlighting diplomats from around the world—including Swiss diplomats—who carried out courageous rescue efforts during the Holocaust.
